Music Video Pitch

I have pitched my music video to a group of people who are the target audience I would expect to listen to the song. I used my storyboard, lyrics and blog to present my ideas to them and I got them to fill out a feedback sheet saying what they think worked well and what they think could make it better.

What my target audience think works well:

  • The location is a great place because it can portray a toy factory.
  • The lighting that I have decided to use because it is colourful, which makes the song feel happier.
  • The use of stop frame animation, used on the toys to make them look like that are moving around.
  • The use of lyrics to visuals which I am going to use throughout the whole video as much as I can.
What target audience think could be made better:
  • Colourisation could be used to enhance the colour of the shots - I have thought about this and I think I am going to use this on some of the shots of the toys. I will enhance them to become more colourful rather than just the plain normal shot of them. It will also fit better into the video as the performance is based around colourful flashing lights.
  • A star image motif which can be used on the CD cover and website - before I had made the pitch I was thinking about how I could do this, but I still wasn't too sure what to use for it. I have thought about it a bit more and have come to the conclusion that I am going to use a Jack In The Box as the star image motif as it relates to the song name and appears numerous times throughout the video.
  • Faster animation of the band in the chorus - whilst I was planning my storyboard, I did think about speeding a part of it up, but wasn't sure what bit. It seems reasonable to speed up the chorus but then the lip synching would be off sync with the words, this would look a bit odd. Alternately I could film it with 2 cameras and and speed one of the up and layer it in the editing. I really like this effect and it appeared on Green Day's song 'American Idiot'. This would also be pretty hard to do because I don't have access to 2 cameras which are the same quality/resolution. If I was to use this idea it could look a bit odd.
Here is a video of my pitch to my target audience. I have explained how I want my music video to turn out with help from my blog.
