I have attempted to make a first draft for my album cover for my artist. This is purely just the cover artwork at the moment, because once I have come up with that I can work forward and start to do the booklet which goes with it and the back cover which has to correspond with the colour scheme and style.

As this is only my first draft I am not too sure if this design is right for it. I have tried to make the background look like blurred out lights with a black back drop, but I'm not totally convinced that it has worked yet. I wanted to make the lights look colourful because the lights I use in my music video are colourful and flash on and off. I have used a multi coloured gradient to achieve this effect. I have not begun to put the Jack in the Box on the front because I want to get the background right before I start to do that incase I have to add some colourisation effects to the Jack in the Box or blending effects to make it fit in and not just look like it has been 'plonked' there.
I am using a piece of software called 'The GNU Image Manipulation Program' (also know as, GIMP) to achieve these effects. I may also use another similar software called 'Photoshop', this piece of software has a lot more features that 'GIMP' and has a lot more effective results - as it isn't freeware software.
I am still trying to find a font that will suit the style of the music, the band name, the cover (colour wise) and the website. Depending on the final colour of the album cover I will probably use a contrasting colour so that it stands out, I will also use this technique for the website which I will be creating.
Overall, I think I will need to do a second draft because although it would stand out to my audience and has a resemblance to the music video, the supposedly blurred lights which I have tried to create look a bit too busy and it all looks a bit too dark. I will try and use a different range of colours to get it perfect.
